Since 2007 Dr. Shay Bar has been heading excavations and surveys in the Fazael Valley in the Jordan Rift Valley, some 20 km north of Jericho. As part of this project, excavations have been carried out in Chalcolithic (Fazael 1, 2, 5, and 7) and Early Bronze Age I (Sheikh Diab 2 and Fazael 4) sites in the valley. Two books have been recently published: Yogevim Ve Nokdim I: Reports on Archaeological Excavations in the Jordan Rift Valley and the Desert fringes of Samaria (2006-2011), Haifa: Seker (2013); and The Dawn of the Bronze Age, Leiden and Boston: Brill (2014).
